Location:

Description:

Hiya! My name is LUCY and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Labrador mix Age: 1.5 years old (approx.) Gender: Female Weight: 54 lbs (24.5 kg) Height: 63 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 82 cm (head to butt) Neck: 43 cm Chest: 68 cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - I was abandoned, along with my litter of puppies, under a bridge when I was around 1 year old. Just a puppy myself! Not only was I under a bridge, but near a high-speed roadway which was quite dangerous! A kind stranger ran to find us help, and when he returned someone had already taken my pups but they had left me to fend for myself! Thank goodness I was rescued and brought to the shelter where I received veterinary care. Turns out I was pretty malnourished, and I had scabies! It was a scary ordeal for a young girl like me, but I was brave and now I’m all healed up! I currently live at the shelter, waiting to be adopted by a family of my very own! Check out a few videos from my rescue day! video1, video 2, video 3 TEMPERAMENT - A just adore hooman affection! I’ll let you know when I’m ready for some pets, or if I want to play! One of my favorite activities is playing ball, I’ll even hide the ball for my friends to find! While I’m generally a happy and playful gal, I can be timid at times and am scared by loud noises. You know those emergency vehicles? I’m not a big fan of their sirens! ENERGY LEVEL - Medium to High - My rescuer says I’m a smart gal and can learn commands quickly. I enjoy play time and lots of walkies with my trusted hoomans! Exercise is a must for me! Now that I’m nice and healthy I also love treats, we get fruits, vegetables and even tortillas here at the shelter and sometimes I ever share! Who’s ready to give me all the love, walks, and treats that I deserve? GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. I haven’t had much exposure to kiddos so far at the shelter. Dogs – Yes! I have lots of pals at the shelter, and enjoy walking and the dog park with my fellow doggos! Cats – Unknown. I don’t have any known experience with kitties just yet. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Good/Fair. I just love any chance I can go on a walk! Sometimes I walk in a group and look pretty good (see videos here and here)! My skills will need some polishing up when I am adopted. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives. HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process.
