Benson, Labrador Retriever For Adoption In Langley, British Columbia

Price:

Location:
Langley, BC
Description:

Hello world! My name is BENSON (they call be "Bebote", which means "Baby" down here in Mexico) and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Lab mix Age: 7 years Gender: Male Weight: 47 lbs (21.4 kg) Length (nose to butt): 84cm Height (paws to top of head): 67cm Height (floor to shoulders): 57 cm Neck Circumference: 41 cm Chest Circumference: 69 cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - Me and my brothers were found as very young puppies on the streets of Chimalhuacan, Mexico. We were all alone and so scared; surely we would not have survived much longer out there. We were taken in by our amazing rescuer and given food and a safe place to rest. As if my story wasn't sad enough, I also came down with Distemper. I am a survivor though, and I overcame this disease. I have lived my life at the shelter ever since... almost 7 years now! All of my other brothers have found adopters, all except me. Can you believe that a handsome, sweet boy like me hasn't found a home yet?! I really hope it's finally my turn to find my forever home- I am so deserving of unconditional love for the rest of my life! TEMPERAMENT - I am a lovely, chill boy who is obedient and affectionate with people who have earned my trust. I am pretty shy at first and truly just have the sweetest, most genuine soul. I enjoy the company of people and other dogs. I currently sleep with my doggy friend, Cleta, at the shelter. She just got adopted too-- yet another pup getting her chance at a forever home. I hope I'm next! ENERGY LEVEL - Low energy. I am a middle aged dude who is pretty low energy. I like to go for walks (check out my tail wags!) and love to sniff and explore... but then I'm also super happy to snooze and cuddle up. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Dogs – I get along well with the all the other doggies at the shelter. My bestie is Cleta (the tan/black shepherd mix in this video). Cats – Unknown PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress (but not too shabby!). Here are some videos of me on leash so you can see for yourself (video 1, video 2). A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will continue to set me up for success in my forever home. House training – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives. HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered and vaccinated. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Brucellosis, Parvo, Distemper, and Heartworm before flying North. Because I was infected by Canine Distemper Virus before my permanent teeth emerged, I have permanent tooth damage. I can eat food no problem, but my teeth are just a bit "ugly" as a result. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live. WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates. ##2016779##Adoption processPlease keep in mind that there may be multiple applications for a single dog and that even if your phone interview and home check are successful, there is no guarantee that you will be matched with the dog you have applied for. Your chances of a successful match greatly increase if you list more than one dog on your application.
