Adopt Marti (S. Korea) **LOCAL** hz a White Jindo dog in Langley, BC (38751752)

Location:
Langley, BC
Description:

Hello everyone. My name is Marti and here is a little info about me:Breed: Jindo mixAge: 3 yearsGender: Male Weight: 29 lbHeight: 48 cmHighlight(s): Calm, Happy, rarely barkI had a rough start to life as I was born in a poor private shelter with a few other dogs without decent food and suffered from severe skin disease. Luckily, my rescuerr found me in October 2021. I had to be relocated a few times at different boarding facilities until June 2023 when I finally went to a good foster home. You may find me a bit shy at first when you meet me, so please don’t rush up to me. I would allow being petted gently from my chin. Within a few days, I would open up much more and I would easily allow being lifted. When I'm completely relaxed, I would show my belly and enjoy the belly rubs. My rescuer says my smile is my best feature.Dog parks are not my favorite to go place as I get nervous around new dogs. At a dog park, when a new dog rushes up to me, I get tense and I might tuck my tail and step back. I would hardly approach them first. My main interest is sniffing and marking, not running around and playing with other dogs. Rarely, if I find a perfect fit who has a similar energy level to me, I might go a bit crazy but normally I will be a timid and gentle boy. I really enjoy walking. I don't mind walking in the rain. I might be a bit excited and pull you a bit to smell here and there, but overall, I'll follow you pretty well on leash but I may not come to you when recalled. Please don't make me off-leash until I learn.I really love kicking back legs after peeing. That's my happiness!Stairs? No problem! Elevators? No problem! My rescuer says I have a prey drive. When I see a stray cat on a walk, I get very excited and try to chase. I've never been close to a cat and I might act differently indoors, but my resuer thinks a cat-free home seems to be ideal for me. My appetite is high, with no resource guarding issues towards people and other dogs. I haven't shown any signs of separation anxiety, no car sickness and I rarely bark. A year ago, I showed aggression to few dogs among 70-80 dogs. I don't remember why I did that and nobody saw the moment. After I spent a lot of time around other dogs, I'm more comfortable around other dogs. Energy Level: I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy outdoor activities and like to rest/calm at home after walks. I get along with:Dogs:YesCats: NoKids: YesFears: Unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please be prepared to help me learn where to go in my new home.Health notes: I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1780432##
