Hello Canadians! My name is Kai which means either "sea" or "warrior," depending on where it's used. I am a young 1 year old husky cross who was rescued when I was running free in a park in Texas about a month ago. I am thought to be part Alaskan Klee Kai as, at 36 lbs, I am a medium-sized rather than large dog. I was flown from Texas to Vancouver only a couple of months ago to be adopted by a lovely woman in Vancouver. She loves me dearly but she also has some challenging circumstances happening in her life right now so she is reluctantly giving me up for adoption. She says I am a delightful dog who loves the caring humans in my life. I'm also good with other dogs but not too keen on living with those furry creatures who meow. I have just been neutered which will likely make me more calm with other creatures, even cats. I am SO looking forward to having a loving family with whom I can have grand adventures. I travel well in cars and greatly enjoy cuddles with my human. Further information will be added as my delightful personality becomes more evident to those who are currently fostering me. Health notes: I have been neutered, dewormed, microchipped and I am up to date on my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $800 CAD plus applicable taxes. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. As they will be taking their dog home straight from the airport, they have a couple of weeks to decide if the dog is a fit.
