Adopt Roxy (Well Trained - Vancouver a Black - with Brown, Red, Golden

Location:
North Vancouver, BC
Description:

This gorgeous girl is Roxy, an approximately 3 years old king shepherd weighing around 80 poundsI have been fostering and training Roxy since the beginning of May (3.5 months) and she's now a fully trained and healthy pup ready to be adopted. Please read the entire ad prior to messaging/commenting. The following are non-negotiable. *You must live in or quite close to Vancouver*you must have experience with high energy intelligent large breeds or be very well aware of what it takes to care for one and have the suitable lifestyle for such.*You must be able to exercise Roxy a lot and make sure she gets fully tired everyday. Please note that most days, two hours of constant walking is insufficient for her. She needs to actually run for a solid 45 minutes (intense) to one hour and half (moderate) daily (10 to 15 km depending on speed/duration of running). She has plenty of energy for minimal exertion activities such scent work, games, toys, etc for the rest of the day but more often than not, this is her bare minimum. I have trained her to fetch ball and Frisbee on ground and in the water. I have also trained her to run along side you off leash when you run on foot or ride a bicycle or scooter.*You must be financially secure enough to provide Roxy with quality food and medical care (she currently has no medical issues whatsoever)* You must be ok with Roxy as her name and not attempt/plan to change it*You must be well capable and willing to be consistent with all the work that has gone into her training in the past few months*Roxy is a very emotional and affectionate dog and therefore you must be the type of person to give her a lot of right kind of love and affection and count her as a family member and an important part of your life*You must be willing to make many trips to the vicinity of where Roxy is currently living with us (Marpole, south vancouver) and spend hours with her prior to fully taking her on. We are planning to have her transition done quite gradually where the person would start with seeing her with us and slowly over a two weeks period get to a point where she’s spending more time with you than us and slowly fading us out of the picture after that*You must understand that she is a long haired dog that sheds; you must be completely ok with this before even thinking about adopting her.*You must be ok to cover the cost of her spaying as well as an adoption fee*You must want Roxy present around you, in your house, in your room, in your car, etc and not want her as an outside dog in your backyard/truck bed/restricted area in the house, etc. When I started fostering Roxy 3.5 months ago, she had behavioural issues and she was quite under weight; I had put a lot of time and energy to bring her training and physical condition to where they are now. We are in no rush to get rid of her and want to patiently look for someone who can meet all her needs and fully appreciate the blessing that she is.If you're interested in adopting Roxy and confidently believe you are capable of providing a comfortable and happy life for her then please send me a message. Please note that although there may be ideal candidates interested from outside of Vancouver area, we're not open to such candidates at this time due to the following reasons:- we want Roxy to know and trust the adopter before going away with him or her.-Yes dogs are resilient but given the circumstances there is no need to exercise Roxy’s resilience again; she's gotten extensive training to be able to comfortably live in a city environment with someone whose lifestyle suits her. Contrary to popular belief as long as a dog actually gets tired, he or she does not need a big land or backyard to be hers. There are unhappy and neglected dogs on big farms and happy and cared for large dogs living in houses and apartments. It's how a dog lives and not necessarily where.-Another priority for us is being able to ensure Roxy gets an attentive and caring owner; this is nearly impossible with a candidate who lives hours away. I have put many hours into Roxy's training so that she becomes a dog that can easily and comfortably live in the city. There are many dogs whose characteristics, traits, trainings limit them to an environment that doesn't come with the restrictions of a city.-There is no urgency to move Roxy to a new home. She's not in a shelter. She currently lives in a house with two other dogs. She gets plenty of physical and mental exercise and gets tired everyday. She gets a lot of love from us. Therefore, for now, we would like to wait and hope to find someone who is close enough to have Roxy's transition done slowly and for us to be able to ensure she goes to a home we find ideal for her.The grey dog in the pictures is my little big baby and the golden one is my friend's; they're our heart and souls and not up for adoption. Lastly, I am looking for a loving, caring and competent individual to adopt Roxy. I'm not looking for advice on how to take care of, exercise, feed, train Roxy. I board, foster and train dogs. I'm also an experienced handler with high energy dogs, working breeds or otherwise. If you are interested Please email XXXX@gmail.com or apply online at www.theonedogrescue.ca
