Thor is a 1.5 yr old male red Doberman with a docked tail and natural ears. If you have a Doberman sized hole in your life and are willing to keep up with his training, Thor will be the most amazing companion you could ask for! He was surrendered to us after he was rehomed to a young family without the right experience to handle a Dobe. What you need to know: Thor is a Doberman. He exhibits Doberman traits unapologetically. He is alert, protective of his domain with warning barks, and a true velcro dog. Thor has been learning quickly in his foster home. Walking nicely on a leash has improved dramatically and will require consistency to cement this behavior in. Thor is also quickly learning sit, shake and kennel. Down continues to be a work in progress, but Thor is food motivated and will also pick this up too. Thor has high energy and when unable to be outside, he knows how to direct his energy to chewing toys and not your shoes or other belongings. Thor would do best in a home with another large dog and he has learned quickly to respect the much smaller resident female Doberman in his foster home.One area that Thor does need further training is with leash reactivity, specifically towards other dogs. Although he had shown some reactivity to certain humans in his last home, he has been awesome with everyone he has met since coming to the rescue. He did have an incident with his previous owners where he nipped a stranger who bent down into his face while on the street, but we feel this was entirely mismanagement.Thor previously lived with small children and was very respectful and protective. He has not been tested around cats.Thor has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed. His adoption fee is $500. All adopters must agree not to use any punitive training methods including, but not limited to, leash corrections; pinning; alpha rolls; and prong, pinch, choke, shock, or e-collars.
