Say hello to the wonderful Mercury! Mercury is a mixed breed and about 3.5 years old. Mercury was first came to us in the Summer of 2022. Unfortunately her adopter is not able to provide to Mercury what she requires so she is now looking for a family. Mercury is alert to her surroundings, and may be weary of new people, however she has proven to warm up quickly and once she does she is a total love bug. Mercury lived as an only dog in her previous home, but demonstrated that she did well with other dogs as she participated in play groups and was kenneled with other dogs in Texas. However, since being adopted a year ago, she seems to have developed some dog reactivity. She did partake in doggy daycare at a big-name pet store, and this may have caused some negative experiences and associations as it did not set her up to be successful when meeting and interacting with new and strange dogs. Due to this, it will be important that Mercury is introduced to other dogs properly to ensure that she continues to have positive experience with other dogs. Mercury previously lived in a home with young children, and would do just fine in a home with respectful kids. She can be mouthy when playing, so keep this in mind. With ongoing training, structure and confidence building, we know that Mercury will continue to build on the awesome dog that she already is! We receive a number of applications for each dog and only one will be chosen as the successful candidate. Candidates are selected based on the dog's needs. Not being selected for the dog that you applied for does not disqualify you from adopting from us in the future.Shelter locationWe do our very best to place our dogs into adoptive homes before they arrive into Canada. This ensures that they have a safe and loving place to go after their long journey up North. All dogs adopted through R.E.B.E.L Dog Rescue will receive a 15 day adoption probation period. This period starts the day the dog enters the care of the adopter. This means that the adoptive family has 15 days to determine that dog is a good fit for them. Although it may feel scary to not meet the dog before adopting, the 15 day period allows you to get to know the dog within your home. If you buy a dog off of Kijiji or at a local shelter you may be given a couple hours to meet the dog. We believe that our program's 15 day probation provides much more insight into how he or she will fit into your home, rather than. a brief meet and greet.
