Adopt GIGGLY (local) sf a Black - with Tan, Yellow or Fawn Border Collie /

Location:
Langley, BC
Description:

UPDATE: I am now in Canada and all ready to go to my forever home! I have been with a nice family but their existing dog and I were not well matched so I am needing a new home. My current foster family has said that I am an energetic guy outside but that I become quite relaxed when I come indoors. Both my rehoming adopter and my foster family have said that I am highly intelligent, 100% housetrained, and able to understand several commands including sit, heal, out, bed, stay. I also am known for really wanting to please my humans although I am still feeling a bit nervous around some strangers when we're out walking. Given what I have learned so far in such a short time, I'm sure that I will learn to relax and trust humans who I don't know.I do like socializing with some other dogs but I prefer being the only dog in a family. Also, given that I have a fairly sensitive personality which can cause me to feel nervous at times, I am not a good match for a home with a cat or kids.Hi there, my name is GIGGLY and here is some info about me:Breed: Saluki/Border Collie mixAge: 2-1/2 yearsGender: maleWeight: 18 kgHeight: 50 cmTossed out of a moving car in the Middle East when I was only two months old, a good Samaritan called the shelter and told the owner to go and find me in the bushes on the freeway. They literally had to go and search around where I was tossed to find me. I don’t appear very traumatized by the situation, thankfully.I am a very affectionate and happy dog. Since I am very playful, or would be great to be adopted into a family with other dogs or a family that can take me to a dog park to interact with other dogs. I love to play and jump around a lot. I get along very well with humans and other dogs. The staff named me Giggly. I always make everyone laugh, because I have so much energy and I do the funniest things at the shelter.Because I am in a shelter environment, there is no way to know about cats, but because of my high energy levels, the staff doesn’t think it would be a good idea for me to be around cats, as I might chase them. That is merely a guess though. It's hard to tell if I am much of a barker, because of the shelter environment. I tend to get hyped up when the other dogs bark around me. I think away from a multi-dog unstructured environment (mass shelter dogs) and with a bit of training though, it wouldn't be an issue. I love my food and gobble up every last bit as soon as I can.Energy Level: moderateGet along with:Dogs, yesCats, unknown, though recommendation is noKids, unknown, though my rescuer states yes, no video proof available yetPrey drive: unknown, not observed with cats, squirrels, rabbits, etc... As far as currently known, I get along with all animals. Even small ones. But due to being in a shelter, there is no way to know how he would react to squirrels or rabbits. It is important that my adopter be willing to train me, just in case I react towards small animals. So far I get along with everyone I meet.Fears: I can sometimes be fearful of strangers. My reaction is that I am just timid and shy and thus take time to approach people. But this can easily be worked on with proper intro and socialization.Training: basic, but very eager to learn more & loves praise as he learns new thingsLeash skills: learning very quickly, accepts leash easily, learning heelHouse trained: yesHealth notes:I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped.My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD + applicable taxes. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. [MID-EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. ##1218030##
