*** This dog is in Niagara and is ready to be adopted! ***Kazu was saved by another rescue. She was adopted as a puppy by a family in Ontario. Unfortunately, they didnt have much dog experience/understanding on how to keep a dog in line. Since she wasnt given clear guidelines and discipline, and was allowed to do whatever she wanted, she started to walk all over her new adopters. It wasnt until she started to protect her food bowl that the owners decided they were unable to handle the training. Since then, she was returned to the other rescue. They in turn, reached out to us and asked us to take her as they were full. She was put into a foster home where rules applied. Structure was given and Kazu is THRIVING. She is the friendliest little girl and though she still sometimes tries to push the rules, as soon as her foster sets limits, she is easily corrected! She just needs an alpha in the home, and she is eager to follow the rules when directed. In fact, she is thriving off of the structure and gets nervous/anxious when not directed. A bit about her: She is a SMART girl!! She knows how to open her kennel from the inside so extra measures are taken by the foster to secure her door with a clip. She was awful on leash when she arrived, but since then, she has mastered the walk right by the fosters side and in less than a week she knew sit. Its clear she didnt have much training when she first came. She loves being pet by kids and having her bum scratched is one of her favorite things. In fact, if she thinks you're going to scratch her bum, she flips over (literally somersaults) onto her back. People cant stop talking about how bright her eyes are! She loves her bed and knows the command on your bed. She will do ANYTHING for a treat. She has learned how to run on a treadmill as well to curve any pent-up energy. She loves to be warm under the blankets and cuddle with anyone who will give her the time to do so. She loves to play with other dogs and with more exposure she has learned to submit instead of standing her ground as shes been put in her place a few times by the foster's other dogs. When she sees another dog on a walk, she gets so excited to meet them, but not in a bad way! When walking with friends dogs, if she is in the front she wont stop turning around to try play with their dogs, and if walking beside one of the fosters dogs she constantly tries to lick their ears. Or start a game. Kazu was a puppy who was given too much freedom but with someone who had owned a dog before and is willing to gently correct (she doesnt need harsh correcting; she responds so easily!) she will do so well.
